Description:   Rural grocery stores are the heart of many rural communities across Minnesota. Even so, rural grocers are facing intense economic stressors, many facing potential closures. Nearly half of all rural grocers surveyed in Minnesota expressed concerns of going out of business in the next five years. Today, 24 counties in Minnesota have 100% of their census tracks as federally designated food deserts. This CLE will cover the current challenges facing rural grocers, and address how antitrust law may provide some tools to protect rural communities’ access to local grocery stores.
