AGO ranks as a top 100 small employer for first time
Award honors workplaces with high morale and employee satisfaction
Star Tribune has also named AGO a top Minnesota workplace for 5 years in a row
April 14, 2026 (SAINT PAUL) — Today, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced that the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office won a 2026 USA Today Top Workplaces for the 5th year in a row. The award honors organizations with 150 or more employees that have created exceptional, people-first cultures. Award-winners are recognized for their commitment to fostering a workplace environment that values employee listening and engagement. The winners of the Top Workplaces Award are determined by anonymous employee feedback captured through a confidential survey that must be filled out by at least 35% of employees at a given workplace.
Additionally, for the first time, the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office was ranked in the top 100 small employers, which USA Today defines as employing between 150 and 499 people. Within that category, the Attorney General’s Office ranked as #59. USA Today only ranks the top 100 of each of their 4 categories of employer size.
The Minnesota Attorney General’s Office has a long record of winning awards for its outstanding work environment. The office previously won USA Today’s Top Workplaces award in 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022. Additionally, the office won the Star Tribune’s Top Workplace award for the last five years as well, winning in 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, and 2021.
“This last year has been one of immense challenges, both for Minnesota generally and for the highly dedicated staff of the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office,” said Attorney General Ellison. “In addition to our normal work of protecting consumers, prosecuting Medicaid fraudsters, serving our clients, and defending state law, our office has been on the front lines of Donald Trump’s relentless attacks on Minnesota. This moment demands a lot from my team, and I am so proud of how my staff is stepping up to defend the people of Minnesota. Working alongside such fine people is truly the honor of a lifetime.
“I am also proud that the culture of collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity that my team and I have created together is still as strong as ever. After all, what good is a positive work environment that falls apart when that workplace faces a challenge?” added Ellison. “This award isn’t just good news for my team and I, it’s good for the people of Minnesota. The positive workplace culture we have created helps my office recruit and retain incredibly talented and dedicated people who give their all to helping Minnesotans afford their lives and live with dignity, safety, and respect. When morale is high at the Attorney General’s Office, everybody wins.”
