The Office is one of Minnesota’s largest public law offices and as of 2024, has been recognized as a Star Tribune Top Workplace Minnesota for four years in a row and Top Workplace USA for three years in a row.

The Office is seeking a highly capable individual with the skills and drive to work on behalf of the public in improving the quality of healthcare for all Minnesotans by investigating complaints received by the state’s health-related licensing boards alleging misconduct by healthcare providers.  The Office's Health and Teacher Licensing Division represents Minnesota’s 16 health-related licensing boards in litigation and administrative actions related to the boards’ licensure and regulatory oversight of healthcare providers.  Key functions of this position include collaborating with assistant attorneys general and board staff, obtaining and reviewing records, conducting interviews of witnesses and licensees, and drafting reports summarizing investigative findings.

Investigators conduct civil investigations on behalf of the health-related licensing boards into allegations of misconduct by healthcare providers.  Complaints against healthcare providers generally involve allegations of substandard practice, unprofessional or unethical conduct, fraudulent or abusive billing, improper prescribing of controlled substances, sexual misconduct, or violation of professional boundaries with patients.  Investigators review complaints against healthcare providers; collaborate with assistant attorneys general and board staff; evaluate and analyze documents, such as medical records, billing records, and employment records; interview complainants, patients, witnesses, and healthcare providers who are the subject of complaints; draft reports summarizing investigative findings; and sometimes work with attorneys to prepare cases for evidentiary hearings or trials.
