The Office is currently seeking a Systems Administrator in the IT Division. The Systems Administrator supports the mission of the Office by overseeing and performing system administration and technical support across the operations environment. Incumbents administer Microsoft 365 tenants and Microsoft enterprise solutions. Incumbents analyze problems or malfunctions to ensure timely resolution, including taking corrective actions as appropriate, documenting problems and their resolution, and ensuring the operational integrity of all changes to the operating environment. Incumbents work with a team of IT professionals to support the legal operations of the Office and ensure the availability and performance of the systems infrastructure.
At the Legal Assistant 7 Systems Administrator level, incumbents maintain the technical operations infrastructure and are responsible for technical guidance and workflow management. Incumbents are thoroughly knowledgeable of relevant operating systems, network protocols, and standard applications, as well as end-user support service, servers, networks, and workstations.
At the Legal Assistant 8 Senior Systems Administrator level, incumbents provide advanced technical expertise in technologies and tools across the operations environment and mentor and coach junior technical staff. Incumbents require a breadth of operations experience in complex or unique situations and are fully competent to provide technical guidance to other administrators and analysts on the team. Incumbents ensure that infrastructure conditions are monitored, and any service-affecting issues are promptly addressed; perform specialized analysis to operational and functional problems; accountable for the maintenance of existing user systems and the development of new systems to meet user needs.
A successful candidate in this position will be able to:
- Perform system administration and technical support across the operations environment, including on-premises and Microsoft cloud solutions.
- Administer and serve as subject matter expert for Microsoft 365 enterprise services (M365 Admin Center, Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams, Entra, Azure, Purview, Sentinel).
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and mailboxes within Microsoft 365 hybrid infrastructure.
- Develop, implement, and maintain complex computer, data, voice, and video systems, including data servers, user devices, and communication tools.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and operations problems, including change management activities.
- Leverage scripting and automation tools to streamline operations, improve processes, and increase efficiency.
- Serve as point of escalation and provide consultation and technical support to staff in resolving problems with computer systems, services, and equipment.
- Serve as an IT consultant and adviser to users and staff on system needs and requests for services.
- Elevates the level of technical knowledge that exists within IT by ensuring that leading expertise is maintained and enhanced in the organization.
- Develops plans that require the integration of multiple technologies, and the interrelationships of multiple systems.
- Installs, configures, and tests application software packages.
- Assess infrastructure operations and identify adjustments aimed to improve performance.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work enviroment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in information technology, information systems, or closely related field (experience may substitute for degree)
- At least two years’ experience of systems administration or engineering in Microsoft 365 enterprise services
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to work independently, collaborate and work effectively as part of a team, ability to prioritize projects and multi-task, and have strong interpersonal skills with both stakeholders and team members
- Possess strong knowledge of computer trends, software, capabilities, and terminology, with expertise in installing and troubleshooting computer hardware and software. Proficient in Microsoft 365 technologies and services, as well as skilled in Microsoft 365 and Azure security and compliance
- Experience installing, upgrading, and maintaining one or more computer networks including computers, server hardware and software; working with network protocols such as IP address schemas, DNS, DHCP, and directory services; evaluating and resolving computer, system, and user problems including application operations, hardware malfunctions, and telecommunications problems; independently evaluating and defining customer/system needs and recommending and implementing new IT solutions; recommending the installation and use of applications and system software; scripting for automation; administering Microsoft 365 technologies and services
To be considered at the Legal Assistant 8 level (LA8), candidates must have at least 6 years of directly related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications
- Experience with the following systems/technologies: Microsoft 365 Administration (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Entra, Intune, Azure); Active Directory; Group Policy; PowerShell; ITSM Tools (Samanage, ServiceNow); and/or other similar systems
- Experience mentoring and coaching technical staff
